The TRIM Center Presented a Report on a New System of Coordinates for the Global Economy
The TRIM Center Presented the Report “People, Technology, and Globalization: A New System of Coordinates.”
On June 24, the TRIM Center unveiled the report “People, Technology, and Globalization: A New System of Coordinates” at the National Centre RUSSIA. The report was prepared by the TRIM Center’s experts based on the findings from the second cycle of the international Open Dialogue project.
The report draws on the ideas of Maxim Oreshkin, Curator of the Open Dialogue project, the outcomes of the January Expert Discussions, and contributions from participants in the 2026 essay competition.
The report was presented by Natalia Staprаn, director of the TRIM Center, together with the Center’s experts Yaroslav Yalovenko, Alexander Dyukarev, and Anastasiia Kim.
The authors identify five megatrends that will shape the global economy in the years ahead.
The report highlights the concept of “Globalization 2.0,” arguing that the world is moving away from a “center–periphery” hierarchy toward a network of interconnected hubs, in which countries of the Global Majority are playing an increasingly important role. Other key trends include the decline of traditional finance and the transition toward digital currencies; the demographic challenges emerging after the global population peak; and technological transformation, in which sovereignty is becoming a central driver of competitiveness. The fifth trend identifies the defining challenge of the era: preserving human agency in an environment shaped by algorithms and artificial intelligence.
The presentation concluded with a video address by Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, who announced the next phase of the Open Dialogue project. The initiative invites participants to review the report, contribute to a global discussion of its findings, and submit a brief essay on one of the topics it explores.
